Curriculum
We believe that every individual is an integral part of the cosmos, not a separate entity, and that s/he is truly unique. We believe that the job of an educational institution is to help every child bring out his or her own unique talent. We believe in a blend of timeless Indian values and modern teaching methods.

The school has obtained due permission to run a full-fledged Senior Secondary School from the Maharashtra State Government and offers ISC.

The school has received a No Objection Certificate from the Maharashtra State Government to run the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula in the school.

The school is affiliated to the CICSE, New Delhi (School Code No. MA 101)

The school plans to be accredited to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) of Geneva, Switzerland, to run the IB Diploma Program tentatively from the academic year 2012 - 2013.

The school has received an ISO 9001:2008; 14001: 2004; OHSAS 18001: 2007 certified Residential and Day Boarding School; it has been ranked as the 4th Most Respected Boarding School in the Western Region and the 12th Best Boarding School all over India, by education World under the C-Fore Survey of Schools, September 2010.

 
Pre-Primary

OIS offers Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG Our curriculum has a child-centered and activity-based approach. A wide spectrum of training is given to the children covering cognitive, reading and writing skills. They are taught through the play-way method and the process of learning is full of fun.

 
Primary

Our Primary School covers a period of 5 years wherein the scope and depth of learning increases gradually, while opportunities for play and creative expression continue to complement learning.

The emphasis in the first two years (Grades 1 & 2) is on languages with the introduction of a second language, on Mathematics in practical terms and on the Environment, encouraging observation and discovery.

 
Middle School

In the Middle School years, self-reliance in learning becomes an important aim. The curriculum incorporates a third language (Sanskrit / Marathi / German), Social Studies and Science in addition to the subjects taught earlier.

Attention is given to the requisite level in each subject by defining standards. Collaborated learning is a regular feature at this stage, as children learn to work together, as well as independently.

Children learn to set goals and have long term objectives. Responsible and upright behaviour is an expression of the school culture.
 
Secondary  

The knowledge and skills gained during the Middle School years equip students with a firm academic foundation to pursue a variety of educational options in the future.

Throughout the curriculum, students are presented with opportunities to research, solve problems and come to their own conclusions and make decisions.

 
Senior Secondary

The students in the Senior Secondary become more specialized in academics and focused on their eventual career choices. OIS will offer a range of specialized subjects to equip students for higher education & the professional world.

This is the plus 2 stage in the Indian pattern of 10 + 2 pattern of education, leading to the ISC Examination conducted by the Council for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (CICSE) New Delhi. The school also intends to offer students the option for the IB curriculum from 2013.
